How We Can Help
Assisting Neighbors in Need

Haven Totes provides food, new clothing and shoes, and personal care supplies to low-income school children and their families, as well as to low-income seniors living in care homes.

Totes for Kids

Volunteers from our faith based partners help low income school children and their families by providing food for the weekend throughout the school year. Every week Totes are packed with non-perishable food and delivered to the school for the children to take home on Friday. Through contact with their local school parents give their children permission to participate in the Totes program. Throughout the school year Totes Kids and their families are eligible for Food Boxes at Thanksgiving and Christmas and other school vacation breaks. At the beginning of each school year Totes Kids may participate in the Haven Fair where they receive, not only food, but new back packs and school supplies!

Totes for Families

Families who participate in Haven Totes for Kids are invited to pick up a box (or two!) of pantry items for the entire family before Fall Break, Spring Break and Summer Break, as well as at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Haven Fair in July.

Parents/guardians may choose items for their box from a selection of canned and boxed food. We always have cereal, pasta, tomato sauce, soups, beans, rice, canned fruit and canned veggies. Tuna, mac & cheese, boxed dinners (like Hamburger Helper) and peanut butter are usually available. A variety of snacks is included, such as cookies, crackers and granola bars. We also offer a rotating selection of “extras”, which can include spices, juice, sweet and salty treats, sparkling or flavored water, and gum. Sometimes, we even have personal care items, like lotions, lip balm and make-up.

Food distributions occur at Fountain of Life Lutheran Church, located at 710 S. Kolb Road. Dates are announced about 2 weeks prior. Our food pantry is tight on space, so if possible, leave the kiddos at home. We understand this isn’t always an option and have a safe space for them to hang out while you select your items.

Totes for Seniors

Haven Totes for Seniors gathers needed supplies for senior citizens and adults with disabilities. Haven Totes Seniors conducts an in-depth analysis of what the adult needs depending on their specific situation. Along with food and nutrition items, this could include books, art supplies or personal care items. The volunteers will deliver the supplies to the adult in need. Most importantly, the volunteer spends some time with the adult to provide them interaction required for a healthy lifestyle, including reading books with them, completing an art project or playing board games. Haven Totes for Seniors strive to provide opportunities for needy senior citizens and adults with disabilities to lead a health lifestyle.

Holiday Gift Totes

Every Christmas, our faith based partners have the opportunity to participate in Christmas gifts for their Tote Kids along with their siblings. The Tote Families are asked to sign-up during our Thanksgiving Food Box give away. Our faith based partners will ask their members to sponsor a Tote Kid with a gift of clothing, shoes and/or toys. When the families come back at Christmas to pick-up their Christmas Food Box, they receive the gifts for the Tote Kids plus any other surprises.
